Justices of the Peace

Justices of the Peace are endorsed by the Major Party Town Committees during Presidential Election years. For a specific period, August 1 - November 1, unaffiliated voters are allowed to apply to become a Justice and are appointed by the Town Clerk. Justices of the Peace must then come into the Town Clerk's Office to be sworn in and to prepare a signature card for filing.

AMENDMENT OF JUSTICE OF THE PEACE ORDINANCE

Amendment of Justices of the Peace Ordinance, dated August 25, 1964, to state that the number of Justices of the Peace in the Town of Chester shall be fifteen (15).

This Ordinance was published in the Hartford Courant on May 10, 1996.
