The Charter Commission was established by the unanimous consent of the Board of Selectmen on 4/12/23. This action followed their review and discussion of the Chester Governance Study report and the related recommendations (2/9/2023).

The Board of Selectmen appointed a Charter Commission Nominating Committee to set up a process to inform the public, solicit applications, vet prospective members and to issue a recommended slate for appointment by the Selectmen at their May 10, 2023 meeting.

On May 10, 2023 the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the recommendations of the Charter Nominating Committee for the appointment of seven members to serve on the Charter Commission for a time period of sixteen months: Mark Borton, Brian Dailey, Lol Fearon, Pat Holloway, Jesse Gnazzo, Ian McLachlan, and Richard Strauss.
